Greater Manchester Chamber in Bolton

Bolton hosts a series of Action for Business Forums which are free to Chamber members. Click here for details. The Forums are a great networking opportunity for businesses to get to know each other, learn about key issues impacting on the business environment and give their views about the critical topics of the day. The Forums are held usually in the town centre and are hosted by the Bolton President, Lesley Sharrock.

Lesley also chairs the Local Council, a group of Bolton-based businesspeople, to agree themes for the Forums and ensure that Bolton’s issues are considered by the Chamber’s Policy and Campaign Committee and main Chamber Council.

The key issues being raised by businesses in Bolton are:

  • Understanding the plans for development and regeneration around Bolton with a focus on improving the business environment and reducing the impact of business rates;

  • Improving the opportunities for young people particularly exploiting the development of new facilities like the University Technical College and STEM Centre, and improving the access to skills training to support the key industries particularly engineering and manufacturing;

  • Explaining and improving the opportunities for Bolton businesses to export, particularly to growing economies like China;

  • Exploring the opportunities to improve transport and travel around the town centre.

There is regular engagement with key stakeholders across the city including Bolton Council, the University of Bolton, local MPs, and businesses big and small.

The key Chamber members of staff in Bolton are Stacey Byrne, the Regional Manager, and Diane Elebert-Morgan, the Business Development Manager.
