Update

June 2010 - Property & Construction, the new name for the Building & Development Committee

The Building and Development Section of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce has a long and illustrious history.  Some of the leading politicians and construction industry thinkers and implementers have been guest speakers at the Committee's lunches, seminars and conferences over past decades.  It has become increasingly clear to the Building and Development Committee however that the name doesn't quite reflect modern sector activity and organisation.  In particular, the property sector don't identify themselves with the word ‘building' and other businesses in sectors such as I.T. were increasingly using phrases such as ‘architecture,' ‘building' and ‘development' to describe their own activities.

To avoid confusion and to be as inclusive as possible within the sector, the Committee has therefore decided to change its name to "The Property and Construction Committee."  We will continue to be thought leaders and a key networking enabler to all Chamber of Commerce member organisations involved in the world of the built environment.
