Chamber activity in Tameside
Colin Foster, Chairman of Tameside Local Chamber Council, looks back at the achievements of the past year. Having been Chairman of the LCC for a little over 12 months (officially, that is) I thought that it was an appropriate time to look back over the past twelve months to review our achievements and at the same time, look forward to plan for the next twelve. I use the phrase "our achievements" advisedly as I believe that what we have achieved has been a full team effort. The Chamber supported the Do Business In Stalybridge event, which featured a number of free workshops and networking sessions. Colin Foster, Chairman of Tameside Local Chamber Council, was one of the guest speakers and talked about how to get the most out of networking. The event took place at Stalybridge Celtic Football Club.
Tameside Networking Club
Following on from the success we had bringing Local companies together last year, and with the number of pure networking events now starting up around Tameside, we now feel that the time is right to launch phase 2 of the Tameside Networking Club.
In the coming year we will be using the TNC platform to provide help and advice to companies, on a range of subjects, to help them to continue to survive, thrive and rebuild from the downturn. There will still be plenty of opportunity to network as well.
We will be outlining the new approach at this month's meeting and would like you to come along to the start of something new.

Ashton Market Hall has won the Greater Manchester Building of the Year Award for 2009. It fought off stiff competition from the other short listed projects, including Number 1 The Avenue, Spinningfields, the new Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, and the Bolton Market Shopping Centre. The award is given in recognition of the key construction projects in Greater Manchester, and was announced by Sir Howard Bernstein at the Chamber's Building and Development Section Annual Dinner, held at the Hilton Manchester on 15 October. Previous winners of the award include Piccadilly Place, John Rylands Library, the Pinnacle Building, and Beetham Tower. Ashton Market Hall reopened in November 2008 following a lengthy restoration of the building, which was gutted by fire in 2004. To read more click here
