GM Apprentice Share

GM Apprentice Share (formerly the Construction Group Training Association - GTA) consists of construction companies, training providers and clients, working together to create apprenticeships for the construction industry.

GM Apprentice Share can employ the apprentice and set up on-the-job learning with a construction company.

Construction firms act as host companies providing a training placement for the apprentice. The apprenticeship qualification is usually completed on different sites, with different employers, giving a more rounded experience and exposing the apprentice to different ways of working. The contractors' chosen college/training provider delivers on-the-job training and assessment of competence as usual.

Because of its collaborative working arrangement, GM Apprentice Share provides maximum support for the apprentices and employers. There is a designated on-site mentor, someone to deal with any employment related issues and the training organisation provides a trade specific assessor. GM Apprentice Share also works with all members to make sure that the transition for the apprentice going from one placement to another is as smooth as possible.
