Chamber to Focus on Mayoral Election

"So until the mayor is elected our primary activity will be in supporting this campaign, reflecting its importance to the people and businesses in Greater Manchester."
Chris Fletcher, Marketing & Policy Director at Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, said: "We've had a number of queries from members wanting clarification over the mayoral election and the impact that the recently announced General Election in June will have on this.
"The Chamber and its members have been long time supporters of the move toward an elected Greater Manchester mayor and now, just being a few weeks away from the historic vote on 4th May, it would, we feel not be reflective of the work we have done on this nor with the candidates to suddenly switch all our campaign activity and focus onto the June election- as important as this is.
"So until the mayor is elected our primary activity will be in supporting this campaign, reflecting its importance to the people and businesses in Greater Manchester. We will launch our General Election activity on 8th May - one month from polling day and only when the first elected Greater Manchester mayor is known.
"Until then we urge all businesses and residents in Greater Manchester - anyone who is registered to vote - to make sure they continue to keep up to speed with the race to be Greater Manchester's first elected mayor and visit the Chamber's Campaign website for all the latest: www.gmchambercampiagns.com."
