Greater Manchester Chamber is looking for businesses to support local careers fairs and help make young people more aware of the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) skills.

You don’t have to be in the STEM sector to take part - all you have to do is show how STEM skills are used in your business. For example, an art gallery is currently taking part in the project as it uses technology in setting out its exhibitions.

The benefits of school engagement include:

  • A chance to 'give back' to the community and inspire the next generation

  • The opportunity to directly engage with potential future employees/apprentices

  • Raising the profile of your organisation within the community

  • Raising awareness of recruitment schemes, placements, internships, outreach schemes and apprenticeships

  • Helping to meet Corporate Social Responsibility or outreach aims

  • Helping to increase the number of school leavers obtaining skills and qualifications in STEM subjects, in line with the Manchester Work and Skills Strategy (2015-2020)

There are a number of career events coming up. For more information or to register your interest, please email youngchamber@gmchamber.co.uk.

The work is being is carried as part of the Young Chamber programme, in partnership with Career Connect and the ‘Reach for the Future’ programme.
