Irlam live is a concept born out of a dream by a couple of local lads who decided there little town of Irlam had not been visited in its entire lifetime by any artists, never mind world class International superstars. The Idea grew from putting on a drink and food festival in the local park to hosting a three-day outdoor extravaganza now in its 2nd year.

Organising an event such as this needed massive commitment from all involved and the team at staged events, Phil Brooks and Darren Goulden, left no stone unturned to deliver a quality Boutique festival that Irlam and indeed Salford could be proud of. The difficulty was to get the really big names to commit to a venture in its first year. Once Tony Hadley had agreed he was quickly followed by Billy ocean,The Real thing and a host of fabulous artists.

Irlam Live had its format and in the first year the” Boohoo Soulfest Saturday” had one of the best soul line up’s of any festival in the UK. Headlined by Billy Ocean, there was the ”Real thing “opening at 2pm, followed by the British Collective consisting of Junior, Don-e, Noel McCoy and Omar. Kenny Thomas and Aswad completed the line up.

Sunday became the “Party Delight’s retro Sunday". Headlined by Mr Tony Hadley.” Dr and the medics” opened the show followed by the “Blow Monkeys” “Carol Decker and Tpau and the crowd favourite “The Bay City Rollers”.

Over 8000 people attended over the weekend. The sun shone and with craft ales, prosecco and fabulous street food they had a fabulous time,Families and the whole community came together for a weekend in their very own Prince’s Park.

The event was a massive success. Local businesses got behind the event with sponsorship and support. The event finished at 9pm, so all the local hostelries and eateries did a fantastic trade. Irlam was put very firmly on the entertainment map.

The clamour to repeat the event came on the Monday after it had just finished on the Sunday evening. Thousands of requests to run it all over again were received .Irlam Live as an annual event was now born.

Irlam Live 2017 follows a similar format with the added attraction of The Legend Friday. There will be “Jnr Marvin and the Wailers “flying in from Jamaica and “Curiosity Killed the Cat” being supported by Irlam’s own “Jess Kemp”.

Soulfest Saturday Has “Alexander O’Neal headlining, “Odyssey”, “Imagination”, “The Commitments “and “K class” entertaining the masses.

The Retro Sunday are welcoming back the Dr and his medics to open proceedings and he will Mc the full day. Owen Paul, Dodgy and Toyah will ably support Mr Jason Donovan.

In the 2nd year, the organisers have been able to add a second stage in the “bigtop” tent and enrich the experience, Soul Djs and bands like “Twisted Soul”will entertain on the Saturday and the “New York Brass Band” and “Men In Coats “will do the same on the Sunday these are not to be missed.

The event offers fantastic value for money £35 per day or £90 weekend tickets are available. Luxury VIP hospitality is also available at £140 for the full weekend. If you are
