Transport
Connectivity is vital to the success of any city region and Greater Manchester is no exception. Geographically located at the heart of the United Kingdom, Greater Manchester boasts the largest international airport outside of the south east, high speed rail links to London and Glasgow, strategic links to the motorway network and the Manchester Ship Canal, linking the city with the sea.
As the economy and population of the city region grows, it is vital that investment in transport infrastructure keeps pace. We campaign for improvements to all forms of transport, working closely with key partners in the aviation, bus, road, haulage, shipping and rail industry and at all levels of influence, from central government to local service operators.
Richard Critchley is your Policy Manager for Transport, Environment and Planning. If you have a transport issue you would like to discuss, call 0161 237 4037 or send him an email.

Greater Manchester Chamber has joined the fight to ensure that the city region gets the full number of additional rail carriages promised by the Government in order to ease overcrowding. Last year the Government announced that it was back tracking on long standing promises that would have provided 182 additional rail carriages to Northern Rail. We are urging all members to join this campaign by contacting their local MP and the Department for Transport. For further information, please contact Richard Critchley.
