During summer 2016 Young Chamber activity has included a careers event for Year 5 and Year 6 pupils at St Gabriel's CE Primary School in Middleton. A range of companies from different sectors took part in the day.
'The students at St Gabriel's were brilliant and very inquisitive. They were all very keen to learn more about the construction industry and how to become project managers, quantity surveyors and architects' - Andy Jamieson Director – Jamieson Contracting.
Acting Head Linzi Brown, Deputy Head at St Gabriels said 'The affect on the children’s aspiration levels was phenomenal. Many of our children went from not even considering what the future may hold, to having a real buzz about what they may like to do as a future career. I would highly recommend this to other schools, as a way of building aspiration in children. This is definitely the kind of event we would like to re-run in the future.'
