It is our duty as business leaders to ensure we are creating an inclusive and equal workplace for all – both for the benefit of our workforce and also to ensure the highest levels of productivity, morale, access to talent and performance for our organisations.

Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce have partnered with the charity Families and Babies to deliver this workshop on building an inclusive workplace. Families & Babies have been working relentlessly over the past 20 years to support young families and to provide businesses with guidance on how to provide an inclusive, ethical, and supportive environment for the benefit of all. They have a particular focus on supporting families while assisting businesses with tailored assistance and training regarding key initiatives such as infant feeding – providing tangible benefits for businesses through reduced absenteeism, access to better talent and enhanced employee engagement, retention, and morale.

As a Charity within this field, Families & Babies offers a unique perspective on the significance of social value and inclusion. This event is an excellent opportunity to learn from a variety of experts exploring practical solutions to foster inclusive environments.

At this event, you will hear from GRASSROOTS HR, who will provide valuable insights into developing and implementing effective HR policies that support an inclusive and equitable workplace. Their expertise will highlight practical approaches for businesses to enhance employee engagement, retention, and overall organisational performance through well-crafted HR strategies.

We will also be joined by RICHARD COLLINS FROM CSR ACCREDITATION - Richards aim is to help improve the world for future generations, by reducing the negative impact we have on the environment and by building a better and cohesive society.

As an experienced brand strategist Richard has pursued a passion for helping companies in the public, private and third sector to promote their CSR and Sustainability efforts. Richard founded and launched CSR-A in 2018, which provides a global Environmental and Social Responsibility Accreditation Scheme. Since then CSR-A has developed a global Sustainability  Training course and Workshops, Social Impact Reporting and a CSR programme for primary and secondary schools. CSR Accreditation now operates on an international stage with partners and offices being established throughout the globe. Richard is an international key- note speaker on sustainability. To compliment this he also co-runs the International CSR Excellence Awards.

We will also be joined by Elaine Edwards, Chair and Founder of Families and Babies, which she founded nearly 20 years ago. She first started FAB in the North, in her hometown of Darwen Lancashire were she started to support mums in the local Sue Start centres as volunteers. Her efforts didn’t go un-noticed, and they were asked to apply for funding for the 5 local Sure Starts within the Blackburn with Dawen. They obtained grants in all the centres, which then allowed FAB to start to support even more families and make links with NHS hospital Royal Blackburn where the maternity unit use to be. Elaine had a small team of 8 staff members who worked extremely hard to support women and their families across the borough. Fast forward nearly 20 years and FAB now have over 48 paid staff members and around 150 volunteers and have supported over 250,000 families from home visits to their amazing helplines, and within their communities. They have grown from a small local support group, through to a regional and now national charity of which Elaine is extremely proud .”
