As part of International Trade Week, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is hosting a series of webinars aimed at highlighting key opportunities around the world for UK businesses.

Our Tuesday session will focus on Africa.

Why Africa?

Africa is an increasingly significant market for the UK, with total trade reaching £48 billion in 2022. Over the past decade, UK exports to Africa have grown by 7.5% annually – offering substantial opportunities for growth in a wide range of sectors and industries.

This session will have a more specific focus around West Africa.

About our speakers

Rubby Golo is the Founder and CEO of Global Trade Consult, a Ghanaian-based consultancy firm that bridges the gap between foreign organizations and business opportunities in Ghana. With over two decades of experience in international trade and investment, Rubby has built an impressive career that spans both public and private sectors. She began her journey with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and later worked with the Department for Business and Trade in Accra, before venturing out to establish her own consultancy. Her work frequently takes her across borders, giving her a unique appreciation for cross-border trade and the intricacies of diverse business cultures.

Valerie Agodo is an accomplished expert in international trade with over 20 years of experience, including 13 years at the UK Department for International Trade (DIT), British Deputy High Commission, Lagos. Her work spans across various key economic sectors, where she played a pivotal role in promoting UK goods and services in Nigeria. She has led key projects to enhance UK-Nigeria trade relations, organized high-level ministerial visits and campaigns, promoting UK financial, legal, and public-private partnerships.
