Celebrating 15 Years of Dedication!
Today, we celebrate an incredible milestone, the 15th work anniversary of Joanna Preihs. Join us as we take a moment to reflect on Jo’s remarkable journey and the contributions she has made!
"Prior to starting at the Chamber, I worked for a city centre PR firm with a diverse range of clients, and then as a press officer for the police. My first role at the Chamber was as a press and PR officer, a role which encompassed dealing with journalists, proactively and reactively, and meeting and working with businesses across Greater Manchester to share their newsworthy stories across our communications channels.
Social media was in its infancy for us at the time, and, through subsequent roles as social media manager and then digital marketing manager, I helped build our digital presence and increase the reach and engagement of our X and LinkedIn platforms. The Chamber has led some fascinating initiatives over the years, and I’ve had the opportunity to work on our EU Referendum and GDPR campaigns, multiple annual dinners with key political figures and comedians, several ‘Building of the Year’ competitions, a new website project and an office move to our current home in Elliot House.
Currently, I work on the GM Local Skills Improvement Plan – an initiative that the Chamber is developing on behalf of the Department for Education. As part of this role, I speak to businesses across the region about their skills and recruitment difficulties, then the team works with learning providers and other stakeholders to change provision so that it aligns to the skills needs of businesses. An essential project that looks set to continue into 2025 and beyond to tackle skills shortages and barriers to growth.
Aside from the projects and campaigns I’ve worked on, one of the best parts of the Chamber over the last 15 years has been its people. I’ve been privileged to work with so many talented, hard-working and wonderful individuals - past and present members of staff who have taught me so much and continue to be an inspiration."
