Apprenticeship Providers Total People are Ofsted Good

Following their recent Ofsted inspection, which took place in September, Total People have now received the official report that confirms they are rated ‘Good’ across all of the provision types and subsequently “Good” overall.

What’s it like to be a learner with Total People?

  • Learners and apprentices enjoy their courses; are motivated and attendance is high
  • Young people and those with high needs settle in quickly as they visit the premises before starting their apprenticeship
  • Learners and apprentices develop their confidence and resilience because of the training they receive; they benefit from useful guidance that helps them to stay mentally and physically healthy
  • Learners and apprentices feel safe & know who to contact about any concerns.


What does Total People do well?

  • Leaders plan curriculums carefully, incrementally developing knowledge, skills and behaviours over time and have developed ambitious curriculums to prepare learners for future employment. They have also redesigned the curriculum to focus on developing confidence and communication alongside English and maths, for high-needs learners
  • Learning coaches provide useful demonstrations that develop learners’ and apprentices’ skills
  • Learning coaches coordinate on and off-the-job training effectively working closely with employers to develop an individual curriculum and they use a range of effective strategies and assessments to check and consolidate learning
  • Learners and apprentices develop their English and maths skills successfully and benefit from well-planned careers education, information, advice and guidance
  • Staff at subcontractors talk enthusiastically about how they work in partnership with TP and feel supported
  • Board members are suitably qualified and experienced to carry out their roles
  • The safeguarding arrangements are effective.

In response to the news, Managing Director Mel Nicholson thanked local employers for their support and the collaborative work that supported Total People achieving this result, and that she looked forward to continuing their partnership ongoing.
