Times change, but excellence endures – and at Francis Kirk, we’re better placed to understand this than most, as we’ve been producing and supplying innovative fasteners, fixings, and tools to the rail industry (and others) since 1868.

And just as rail networks span the planet, our business, too, is global, with distribution in over 50 countries, through experienced key partners who keep the supply process streamlined and frictionless for our customers and end-users.

But even as an old and established leader in rail safety supplies, we make sure we stay relevant – and we told our latest stories and showcased our latest solutions at Rail Live recently on 19th – 20th June.

Here’s some more insight into Francis Kirk.

History, pedigree, credentials
With our roots in the proud industrial heritage of England’s North-West, at Francis Kirk we come from a place of engineering excellence in more ways than one.

A fifth-generation family business, we’ve accumulated expertise from one generation to the next, establishing ourselves as a trusted provider of excellent engineering solutions and products that rail industry customers rely on to keep their operations and reputations safe.

It’s this extensive engineering experience that has enabled us to become a Network Rail-approved supplier, as well as an exclusive approved distributor of accredited, industry-leading brands like Unbrako, Holo-Krome and Nord- Lock.

In fact, for well over a century, from our base in Manchester, we’ve been supplying the fasteners and fixings that hold the world’s railways together – literally.

What did we showcase at Live Rail?
Nuts, bolts, screws, threaded rods, washers, anchoring products, dowel pins and keys – these are just some of the Francis Kirk products that are the unsung, unseen heroes of rail engineering.

At Rail Live, visitors talked to us about all of these, and the all-metal, self-locking nut brand Philidas.

These zinc-surfaced, metric thread nuts stay firmly in place even in high-performance environments where vibration can be powerful. They also help reduce assembly time, use fewer components and are more cost effective than alternative locking methods.

Once again, it’s a measure of the trust the industry has in us as a leading supplier of rail industry fixings and fastenings that the Philidas brand of locking nut is exclusive to Francis Kirk.
