Independent accounting and business advisory firm HURST has welcomed five trainees to its ranks, taking its total intake this year to nine.

The latest recruits are Hannah Davidson, Angus Hall, Ella Halsall, Danielle Morrison and Daniel Saysell.

Their arrival follows a group of four trainees who joined the practice in April, comprising Finnlay Blanchon, Aidan Coyne, Fergus Elstone and Ahsan Waseem.

All of the nine newcomers have joined the business services team to undertake their training towards becoming chartered accountants.

Hannah, Daniel and Ella graduated in accounting and finance at Manchester Metropolitan University. Danielle has a forensic psychology degree from MMU.

Angus graduated in business economics at the University of Liverpool.

Of the April cohort, Finnlay and Ahsan were college leavers. They gained their A-levels at Aquinas College in Stockport and Loreto College in Manchester respectively.

Aidan has a food science degree from the University of Leeds and Fergus graduated in international business at Sheffield Hallam University.

Meanwhile Nathan Wood has joined HURST on a one-year placement while studying at the University of Salford for a degree in accounting and finance.

HURST partner Chris Stewardson, who is responsible for trainee inductions and chairs the firm’s training committee, said: “Hannah, Angus, Ella, Danielle and Daniel are our first intake since our move to new offices and we are excited to welcome them into the business services team. They have joined from various northern universities, where they studied a range of subjects.

“Each of them will work towards becoming chartered accountants over the next few years under our programme which involves internal, external and on-the-job technical training alongside softer skills training.

“They will have the chance to gain experience in several areas as they progress, including audit, accounting and corporation tax.

“We’re proud to offer our trainees a first-class training programme, clear career progression and a supportive and friendly culture, which are just some of the reasons why people seeking a career in accountancy choose us over other firms. We’re proud to have a diverse team with varied educational backgrounds.

“We look forward to seeing all of our trainees develop their careers with us and playing their part in helping us to achieve our continued growth plans.”

HURST focuses on advising entrepreneurial owner-managed businesses across all sectors. Clients include Kinaxia Logistics, M&I Materials, Beechfield Brands, Duerr’s, Oliver Valves, Lancashire County Cricket Club, Krones UK, Creamline Dairies, Scapa Group and Hyde Group.

The firm recently moved its head office to a new flagship development in Stockport to accommodate its growing team, taking 11,000sq ft at 3 Stockport Exchange, the latest phase of a £145m project by Muse Developments and Stockport Council.

HURST had been based since 1996 in Tiviot Dale in Stockport town centre, but outgrew the premises. The firm aims to grow from 120 staff to around 170 over the next three years.
