Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) are trialling night buses on the V1 and the 36, connecting Manchester with Leigh and Bolton via Salford.
Services are running at least every hour, providing 24-hour connectivity for around 135,000 people living within 400m – or about five minutes’ walk – from the V1 and 36. This pilot is a significant step in creating a Bee Network that supports the region’s night-time economy and those who work within it, from hospitality staff to health and logistics workers.
Tickets are the same price as daytime services, to ensure that services are an affordable option for both visitors and workers of the night-time economy. A single adult ticket costs just £2.
The safety of customers and staff is of paramount importance on night bus services and TfGM have put a number of measures in place. This includes a mobile response team of Transport Safety Enforcement Officers to respond to incidents, GMP LiveChat service accessed through the Bee Network app, as well as close partnership working with GMP and voluntary organisations including Strut Safe.
