Manchester Mind are recruiting volunteers to join their board of trustees.

Manchester Mind believes that everyone deserves to be supported in their mental health needs and we have a part to play in that.

Their work is guided by their values of: Openness | Belonging | Strength | Collaboration

Manchester Mind have been delivering services in the city for the last 35 years and in 2023-24 had contact with over 11,000 people. There is more demand than ever for mental health support and their strategy is aimed at making it easier for people to ask for help.

Charities make a huge difference in our communities and trustees make a huge difference to charities.

Would you like to join Manchester Mind?
Trustees are a vital part of ensuring charities have good governance, are safe, and sustainable with a working strategy. As a trustee we offer support and challenge to the team running the organisation to help ensure that it is the best it can be for the people of Manchester who use their services.

Though they are proud that many existing trustees have lived experience of mental health, we are always looking to improve diversity and skills mix as they want their board to reflect and represent the people using their services. They know that an intergenerational and diverse board brings a broader range of perspectives to their work and helps them make better decisions. They are particularly looking for people from minoritised communities and young people aged 18 to 25.

They have recently audited the skills they have on the board and are also looking for applicants with one or more of the following skills:

Mental Health service delivery
VCFSE experience
Charity Governance
People management
Finance
Facilities management
Health and Safety

As a Trustee you would be expected to attend quarterly Board and sub-committee meetings and read papers.

You don’t have to have experience of sitting on a board of trustees – they will provide training and support.
