If you have a health condition that has led to you leaving employment or are worried it might, take a look at the latest support available to Stockport residents and employers.
Stockport is part of the Greater Manchester WorkWell programme. The GM WorkWell programme is the biggest in the country and is focused on local needs and services.
Stockport Council is able to provide a low-intensity preventative support programme, aimed at individuals at risk of falling out of employment due to a health condition, individuals awaiting NHS Community or Elective care services who are concerned about their health condition impacting on their ongoing participation in their job.
It is also available to people recently unemployed and where a health condition has been a contributing factor to someone leaving employment.
The Council is working in partnership with the NHS locally and Viaduct Care to deliver the WorkWell programme in Stockport.
WorkWell is also particularly important for supporting employers to support their employees. This can be for employers of any size, irrespective of whether they have an Occupational Health service or not.
We can help with support around addressing work, skills, and health barriers (via the support of a WorkWell Work & Health Coach).
There is also an enhanced provision covering:
- In Work Progression (being delivered by the Council for supporting people who are in work but with limited career progression opportunities / insecure hours, low paid).
- Work and Skills Navigator who can help residents, employers and frontline services access the right work and skills support for their needs, be that WorkWell, In Work Progression or other support.
